James Markham Hall, Jr. is a graduate of the North Carolina School of the Arts, School of Filmmaking and serves as a Director, Cinematographer and Actor in the entertainment industry. James earned an Emmy nomination for his work on the A&E series “Intervention” and has been responsible for the cinematography of programming on all the major networks, recently completing projects for Animal Planet, National Geographic, Comedy Central, ABC and VICELAND to name a few.  Additionally he served as Director / Cinematographer on the Emmy award winning series "Lucky Dog" for CBS as well as producer and 3D camera operator on the series “Turn & Burn” which aired on Sony, IMAX and Discovery’s 24/7 3D network 3NET. His passion and expertise in Stereoscopic 3D were showcased when he captured aerials and celebrity interviews at ECD Las Vegas with electronic music superstars such as Fatboy Slim for the IMAX 3D feature documentary "Under the Electric Sky." James served as Cinematographer on IVERSON, the feature length documentary on NBA All-Star Allen Iverson which aired on Showtime and Netflix.  He is the producer, director, cinematographer, editor and visual effects supervisor of the award winning VR series “American Ghost Towns,” “Historic Treasures of the National Parks,” “Super Pups” and various additional projects including the upcoming "THROWDOWN", through his company Gold Creek VR. His Stereo 3D and VR work can also be viewed through his YouTube Channel CONTENT MONSTERS, which currently has 2.5+ MILLION+ SUBSCRIBERS and 1 BILLION+ VIEWS. 

 

James' cinematography skills as well as his knowledge and enthusiasm for stereo 3D, virtual reality, augmented reality and virtual production filmmaking, brings a level of expertise that is extremely rare and highly sought after in the entertainment industry. James recently collaborated with VRLA and Guillermo Del Toro's (The Shape of Water, Pacific Rim) company MIRADA to educate workshop attendees in the latest VR post-production techniques featuring Mettle Skybox Studio in Adobe Premiere and After Effects.  Additionally, James accepted invitations as guest speaker at METTLE'S VR FILMMAKER SHOWCASE during NAB SHOW 2016 and ADOBE MAX 2016 where his presentations focused on creating cinematic 360/VR experiences, post-production techniques featuring Mettle's Skybox Studio  as well as VR filmmaking tips. At NAB 2017 James was invited by Mettle to present on the Main Stage in the AR/VR Pavilion, presented by Dell.  Additionally James Markham Hall, Jr. joined the Mocha VR team at the Boris FX booth for an exciting presentation featuring the powerful planar tracking software Mocha VR at NAB SHOW 2017.  In 2018 James was invited to NAB SHOW for the third year in a row, showcasing Cinematography for 360/VR and advanced post-production techniques during Post Production World.  James is a proud member of the Visual Effects Society and is currently in production on several projects featuring innovative virtual production filmmaking technology utilizing the power of Unreal Engine as well as NVIDIA solutions.
